In this article we are going to learn to use browser stack for testing public urls and testing internal urls
Please sign in using your email id and password. After sign in you will be redirected to dashboard.
There are two tabs in the middle of dashboard. First is “Test a public URL” and second is “Test an internal URL”.

Test a public URL :

Now, we already discuss to set OS as well as Devices or Browsers in BrowserStack. There are also other menus or buttons or dropdown list to set OS, Device type or Browsers. See following image, there is one button to set OS. So please set OS using that dropdown list. For demo purpose I am selecting IOS.

There is also dropdown list for setting IOS devices ( for desktop, browsers are available with there versions like IE, FireFox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera etc.). Please select Mobile device.

Last one important thing, Please type URL for testing.

Click on Start testing. Yes, you did.

Test an internal URL :

Click on second tab “Test an internal URL”. Select OS and Device for testing. Click on Start local testing.

It will open a window to Configure Local Testing.
There are two options for you. One is for your locally hosted websites or pages, so that you can provide local link for that i.e. Local Server. Second is Local Folder, but this option is only for static files.

Suppose you are selecting second option i.e. Local folder then please click on Browse button so that you could add your websites static files. Now click on Finish.

But, If you want to test your page or site using local server url then please click on first option and add your Link or Host name and Port number. And click on Finish.

BrowserStack will save your setting as well as setting up connection for local testing.

If host name and port is correct then it will give message like Local Testing successfully configured. If it is failed then please check your port number and host name.

Click on Finish to proceed. (You can see following window also after clicking Finish button in First tab of Testing public URL)

BrowserStack automatically set required settings and you can see all the settings done.

You will get emulator or device for that your URL. It will automatically open link as you already provided. If you want to change url then you can change it within the device also.

BrowserStack Integrations

BrowserStack also provides integrations with development tools. For Microsoft developers, Visual Studio and Web Matrix plug-in are available. For local testing they are also provide plug-in for Google Chrome.
